got a hold of someone's 300mm this morning. Going to be putting it to use in a few hours.

The obligatory "Let's see how it fits on a SL1 body" picture.

I have $60 of ebay bucks that expire in 2 days.

Hmm should I get a 100L Macro? I've been wanting one for a while to take pics of shrimp in my aquarium lol

ninja re-edit- looks like I can get a 100 non-L for under 300 bucks with the ebay bucks. Might be a sure win, gotta read up on macro lens reviews

The 100mm macro is an awesome lens, tack sharp, and, it makes a great portrait lens as well.

good point on the usm ver. been looking into stuff. bought the kenkos w the ebay bucks. gonna see if i can score the macro sometime this week. i'll have to come bother you over in quincy again. i dumped the subie and got a 335xi last year. e85

You're always more than welcome - still have tons of macro stuff laying around if you want to test anything out.

How you like the 335? Who tuned it?

no clue on the 65mm. I know the 60 is efs only. i'll have to check that out too

i looked at a sigma 105mm but i dunno if i'm 100% convinced on the sigma stuff.. I have a fisheye which works great. all the reviews on the other lenses seem inconsistent. people either hate it or love it. canon (and zeiss) fanboi.

65mm is where it's at, but requires a bit more patience and skill than the other macro lenses. Pretty versatile with 1-5x magnification. Can get something at 1x...

Fantastic Adam!!! I do appreciate any macro shot much more now that I've realized that I have no patience nor skill for it!

Guys, just made a wireless remote for my most beloved camera out of a cheapo wireless 3G router and Nexus 5! Works like a charm, plain awesome! I wish I could use an 7-10" android tablet instead of a phone though (the display's smallish). Total cost (router + app) - app. $44! The punch line - I got a CamRanger for a iFriend of mine a couple of days ago - the cost - $300!

Cheap ver:

I ver:

The CamRanger app is comparable to DSLRController app, for the price difference I expected some hefty discrepancies! The hardware is the SAME!

Now I need some hot Aussie vistas while I shoot out of the shade next to a cocktail bar :D

I've got both; from a limited amount of testing, the CamRanger is a bit more robust. It also offers clients for Android, iPad/iPod/iPhone, Win 7/8 and Mac; the DSLRController only supports Android (but for the difference in price, you can buy an Android tablet and still come out ahead). There's also DSLR Dashboard (again, Android only), which runs with the same MR-3040 router and supports multiple cameras (if you've got multiple MR-3040s) for the cost of the routers. Software's free.

I've got the same setup - can't say enough good things about DSLR Controller.

Hoping some local guys can help me out!

My work is offering to pay for a photography course. Specifically a portrait class shoot with strobes and seamless backgrounds. Do any local guys know of such things in Massachusetts? Didn't seem to see anything via Google. Thanks guys!!

I work for a marketing department working for an internal graphic design agency. i majored in photography in college and recently they've asked me to start doing all the head shots and offered to send me to a class if there was one.
