Had an assignment to cover the big snowball fight on the esplanade today, since last years' resulted in arrested. No arrests this time, but one of the BU cops decided to single me out and say it was my fault the event happened, we are wasting his time, etc. Yes, always scapegoat the media!

I have no clue why they would blame you scott. That's horrible. BU police really have nothing to do. They get into fights with the Brookline police all the time. I have no clue who thought it was smart to let BU university police arm themselves with guns when they don't have the power to even give a simple traffic ticket on campus.

A snowball fight is a matter for the police? What's up with that?

Looks like a good time was being had by all.

When you have that many people gathered, it's not a bad idea to have a few cops around.

Not sure what the tone of the cop that spoke to Scott was... but perhaps he was actually intellectualizing the situation commenting about how media helps to encourage students who want to raise attention to themselves for no better reason than to be seen.

This

I saw it in action a few years ago where a BU officer got verbally undressed by a Brookline cop about regulations/jurisdictions

Is the Esplanade part of BU in any way whatsoever or has some arrangement been made with the Boston park people to augment the policing duties of the park?

It not he would have definitely gotten some lip from me. I've never been fond of folks overstepping their boundaries thinking they are more important than they really are, especially when it comes to those in any position of authority(imagined or real).

Because last year the cops went overboard and tasered someone and arrested another, which is why it was a newsworthy event this time and I had to be there to cover it. So me being there made the entire thing my fault! He also fell down right after, and I offered him help, and he responded with a nice gently "**** off"....thanks, BUPD.

It was a very derogatory and nasty tone. I deal with police almost every day on the job, and usually they're all nice, and sometimes you have a scummy nasty one.

Finally sold my Sigma 50mm.

Now to make a serious decision... 35 or 50? I'm pretty sure I'm a 50mm shooter. Sigma Art, please come soon. I want an 85 Art, too. So greedy.

Why would you buy another 50 after selling your Sigma 50?

I do like my 35 better than I liked my 50..

Love my 50L...

Use to love to shoot 50 1.4 on the 40D. But on FF i always want more. 85/135 is my preference.

I bought a 50L a few months ago and ended up selling it. Wish te FL worked. The 1.2 was intense!
