Came in looking for experiences others may have had regarding the firmware update for the 7D, on the Canon USA site dated Sept 13, 2013.

Did various searches to find some threads/comments.
Nothing ...

Anyone?

Changes:
Firmware version 2.0.3 incorporates the following fixes.
1. Fixes a phenomenon in which the camera stops working when the auto power off setting takes effect.
2. Fixes a phenomenon in which the maximum number of images that can be captured in a burst displayed in the viewfinder may be less than what can actually be captured.
3. Corrects some errors in the message displayed on the LCD screen when saving RAW images developed in the camera.

The fixes listed above are corrections for the phenomena experienced with firmware version 2.0.0.

Strange they date-stamp it for Sept 13th 2013 on the web site - I have the 2.0.3 firmware that I installed last September on my hard drive dated the 5th of Sept 2012 and it's exactly the same file size.

They have just re-posted the old file. It has been around for a long time now, and is obviously Canon's cheap way of creating the 7D Mark II light, where Canon added various of the software related features found on its younger and smaller brothers, to maintain the 7D as the top of the crop among Canon EOS cameras.
A feat which becomes increasingly more difficult, now when new cameras are showing up with hardware features no firmware upgrade can mimic.

I'm still on firmware 1.2.3.

Been happy with things as they are so haven't updated and haven't even checked to see if there are updates. Was checking for Canon updates last night and saw a newer DPP. Then saw this firmware update too. Wondered if the new features were something I wanted and if the firmware upgrades had been adding any quirks.

Same thing, what does the update add and does it cause any issues.

What it adds is listed with the firmware. Version 2.0.3 adds so many features to the 7D that Canon found the need to issue a new edition of the user's manual. Once you are aware of it it would be pretty stupid not to update.
There was an issue with 2.0.0, but Canon corrected that with 2.0.3.

Interesting ... the Canon USA site has the update dated in Sept 2013, whereas the Canon Europe site as the update listed as Sept 2012.

I updated when it was released last year and haven't had any issues. The biggest features for me were the increase in RAW buffer size from 15 to 24 images and the manual audio adjustment..

I would definitely upgrade.
the 2.0 firmware has a larger burst buffer as mentioned along with some audio upgrades and RAW conversion stuff. There was a whole list of things.
Oh it also allows AUTO ISO to have a max value set by the user.

I find this very useful, since I only shoot in decent light, (except Moon shots), I have mine set at 1600, but it hardly ever goes that high.
