I bought my 300 f/2.8L IS new in 2007 for $4100. Sold it in 2013 for $3900. That equals $33. per year of use.

You do realize that a dollar in 2007 money is not worth the same as a dollar in 2013 money.

Canon 7D/350D, Σ17-50/2.8 OS, 18-55IS, 24-105/4 L IS, Σ30/1.4 EX, 50/1.8, C50/1.4, 55-250IS, 60/2.8, 70-200/4 L IS, 85/1.8, 100/2.8 IS L, 135/2 L 580EX II, 430EX II * 2, 270EX II.

Word.

The only thing that's stayed the same is my paycheck

Oh, back to the topic: I've purchased all mine through either B&H or Adorama.

I've bought lenses mostly through Kijiji sales though the 2 lenses I purchased brand new my 50mm I bought from Blacks and my 40mm I got from Futureshop as it was on sale for a better price than anywhere else. I've also bought my 55mm Super Takumar here.

The camera is just a tool - it is not responsible for the picture.

Here in the UK I use Calumet, they usually cut a good deal and customer service is really good.

Adorama
Amazon (Direct, not 3rd party)
BHphoto
Newegg

Those are the only 4 sellers I would buy my lens and camera from.

POTN, FredMiranda for great deals on high quality used equipment. eBay once in a while if there is a good deal.

For new equipment I will use B&H and Adorama but using Amazon more now that I'm a Prime member and get reward dollars. Last lens I ordered came with a $160 discount!

I try to buy locally if they aren't trying to make their months profits on my purchase. It just takes too long to correct an issue through a website. I can take my body to the store and do a hands on test in the store.
