I have the same problem with draining batteries. It would be easy if I use alkalines, but I use eneloops and I managed to kill 6 batteries before I noticed what is the problem. The batteries are dead and cannot be recharged, because yn-e3-rt drained them completely which doesn't happen in any other device and is fatal for rechargeable batteries...

You can buy the cheapest slow-charger and charge these empty batteries for about 10~20 minutes.

And then, put these batteries to the smart charger. (Most of the smart chargers won't charge the 0~1V batteries.)

So far I've not had a problem recharging the batteries. I also have a YN version of the CP-E battery pack that drains the batteries when not in use. The solution has been to simply not install the battery tray until I'm ready to use the pack. I might have to adopt the same practice with the YN-E3.

I'm guessing about $225 US.

If it is priced over about $250 US I'm not so sure I'll consider it. I have 2 Canon 600EX-RT speedlites and they are solid and dependable, if overpriced. I'd love to have a couple more and not have to pay Canon prices. My experience with Yongnuo YN622C ETTL triggers showed me that Yongnuo is capable of putting out well designed, reliable equipment at a very attractive price point. My subsequent experience with my YN-E3-RT that drains batteries even when the power switch is off, and most recently with my YN622C-TX that has seriously inferior range compared to the 622C's makes me think their design work and quality control is really starting to slip of late. Regardless of what these cost I will not be one of the first to purchase. If they come in closer to $200 than $300 and prove to be solid clones of the Canon I will consider picking one up.

Will be interested in at least one or two of these once your able to place an order. Just ordered my first canon 600ex-rt last night to replace my 580ex II and would like to upgrade both my 430ex II to the yongnuo 600ex-rt and get rid of using the controllers.

considering the recently exorbitant price of the 600EX-RT lately, $250 would definitely be a steal! they've gone from under $400 to $550 now.

Question: will the YN-600EX-RT be able to trigger 3 x Canon 600-EX-RT's off camera in rear curtain sync?

I was keen on the YN-E3-RT, but would prefer an extra speedlight than a replacement to my ST-E3-RT.

Also: if I buy a YN-E3, can I use it with my 600-EX's and then pick up the Canon ST-E3 and have that take over my speedlights without having to change any settings? In other words, can a ST-E3 and a YN-E3 work to fire 600's from different cameras?

Since the YN 600EX-RTs have not been released yet one could not say for certain what capabilities and features they will or will not have but, since the YN-E3-RT have the capability of wireless rear curtain sync (in wireless manual mode only so far) one would assume as much for the YN 600EX-RT acting as a Master.

Since the Master is what controls wireless flash settings you can use the YN-E3 and ST-E3, on seperate cameras, at the same time utilizing the same Slave flashes. The YN-E3 will not change the settings in the ST-E3 (or vice a versa) but will only control those Slave Group units, in the wireless mode selected within that particular Master.

Thanks so much for answering every question I have to your best knowledge, I have ordered a YN-E3 for now and will perhaps look at another speedlight down the track.

Cheers :)

Speaking of the Yongnuo 600EX-RT.....where is it? It is October! This thread is now more than a year old and the YN-E3-RT has been available since December but yet no YN 600EX-RT. Also Yongnuo hinted at some expanded wireless flash capabilities with the YN600EX-RT but there has been no follow up on that as well. I thought that when the YN300W (the Yongnuo TTL studio strobe) was anounced that possibly this was the direction Yongnuo may be going with the integration of Speedlites with studio strobes when using the YN600EX-RT but so far only capatibility with the YN622c and YN622c-tx has been mentioned.

Well Yongnuo had better step up their game and Canon better hope they do as well because Phottix, with the Indra 500 TTL and Odin II, look ready to play ball and give both companies a run for their money and they have my attention. It is now a race to see who can deliver first. If Phottix anounces a Mitros + with the expanded capability of the Odin II then they would be hard to beat and if they can deliver that system in a timely manner they may leave both Yongnuo and Canon sucking hind teat.

Let's face it Canon has done all they are going to do and so far Yongnuo has not delivered all they have promised so they have left a void, of a fully integrated wireless TTL Speedlite/Studio strobe system, for someone else to step in and fill and Phottix looks like they may do just that, only time will tell! I am still going to give Yongnuo the opportunity to impress me with what they have to bring to the table but so far what they have offered up (the promise of a YN600EX-RT and announcement of a 300 ws TTL strobe) is not all that exciting. The race is on!

From 1 to 6 October in China held a national holiday.
The whole country is celebrating this event :)
Factories stopped. From Monday to begin a slow withdrawal of production to the previous level.
It is expected that the next release will be YN-560 IV. But the exact release date is still unknown.

Meanwhile, there is another new player in this field.
SHANNY
Already released transmitter SN-E3-RT is combo of the ST-E2 and ST-E3-RT.
Color display, supports settings: language, font color, background color, brightness.
On the way a SN600EX with built-in receiver compatible with CANON RT
Released two flashes (SN600SC and SN600S) with support of external RT radio module SN-E3-MD.
Just expected SN600EX-RT. This flash is another close analogue of Canon 600EX-RT.
By the way, SHANNY say that two or more SN-E3-RT can control one set of external RT flashes.

In the next couple of months will be more competition in this segment of photographic equipment :)
