Got the 7D last week and went to test it on the local Spot-billed Ducks yesterday. Still need to find the optimum settings combination and also adjust to its heavier weight compared to my old 550D. Thanks for viewing.
7D owners, any tips please?

Sep 30, 2013 15:14 | #5 Congrats on your purchase. I bought my 7D in 2010 and have taken many thousands of pictures with it. I find when I am shooting birds in flight, or any moving object for that matter, I am more likely to get a keeper if I shoot in high speed mode, that way I increase the opportunity to get a picture in focus. I think you will find it a little heavier but nothing like going from the 550D. It came in today. I honestly can't tell any difference between the weight of the gripped 40D and the gripped 7D. I looked it up and without batteries, grip, or lense the 7D is .2lbs heavier, so barely anything. WEBSITE

Oct 01, 2013 00:48 | #11 Richard G, thanks. I did set up the camera according to http://www.deepgreenphotography.com …ing-up-your-new-canon-7d/ Jeff, thank you. Dark5ide, thanks. Congrats on your new 70D, awesome camera. I had a hard time deciding between the 70D and the 7D earlier. Jarvis, thanks and congrats! I have the 400mm 5.6 L. No IS so a little difficult to hold still compared to when I was using the 550D. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE
