A photographer I know said Creative Live's awesome. I took a look, it looks to me like it's a place for photographers to sell their videos. I can't see a way to stream them, you have to pay like $60 - $100 to download one video, and there's no preview.

What am I missing?

They have free broadcasts daily, but you have to watch them as they stream. You can't rewind, pause, skip ahead. If you like the course, you can buy it and have access to it anytime. I've never bought a course before, but I usually watch at least one live course a week.

Tim,

Just as careanne has said, it's a place to watch videos for free as they're broadcasted and can be an excellent resource if you happen to be available when the broadcast is taking place. Of course, given your location, you'd have to get up really early to watch them for free!

Yup.

Or you could always wait till they show up in a city near you. They will try to sell them to you there as well:lol:

Creative live is OK if there is someone you really like and you want to invest $80.00 to see how they do things. But I find you can get the same thing on You tube for free and a heck of a lot less time invested

I found this on you tube from pocket wizard.. excellent video

They also have a free rewatch that starts about an hour after the live show ends (usually around 7pm EST I think). They also answer a lot of questions from the viewers during the live broadcast.

It is free to watch live. They have a rewatch at night for free for the people that live on the wrong side of the world.

I've gained a lot of great knowledge from people I really like and respect.

Disappointed with a few of the people they chose to speak, though.

I didn't realize they had a free re-watch to account for fellow photographers on teh other side of the world. That's pretty cool!

Thanks guys. Given my time zone and work schedule I doubt it'll ever be of much use to me.

I've seen some 10-30min clips on youtube from them, so there might be previews if you hunt the clips down on their channel.

I've caught a few live shows or the rebroadcast, kind of hit or miss. If you can't catch it live, I think the trick is to find a photographer who's work you respect try and find a clip of them teaching something, then make a decision. If you follow them on facebook or other social media you'll improve your odds of remembering when someone you want to see is on.

If you're looking for classes online, also check out the Kelby videos.

If you're hunting for free ones, then B&H Seminars are freaking awesome (and having seen their Oct schedule, I suspect I'll be watching a lot of video in Nov.), and given the forum this is in it's worth mentioning, they did do an entire wedding shoot. Many of the Adorama videos are quite basic for me (sort of a broad sampling bot not too in depth), but I think I've scouted out every deconstructing video Joe McNally's done.

Do you guys have links to useful non-CL videos online that can be watched any time, with no costs? Or is everything free only when it's first streamed?

Kelby Training costs money, but can be streamed any time.

Why create the content for free? There has to be a benefit somewhere.
