I tried to take some pictures of the harvest moon rising over a pond.
I wanted to darken the moon enough so that the shadows would show but that made the photo too dark so that you can't see the trees that surround the pond. If I allowed more light in then it blew out the moon and the reflection. What was I missing? I shot with a 5dll,with a 24-70mm lens. I used various ISO from 350 to 1000 and various shutter speeds. All pictures were the same either too dark or moon blown out. Or is the photo even worth bothering about? This photo was lightened with photoshop a little.

Sorry, this is my first time posting. I was trying to follow the size guidelines. When I saw how small the picture was I tried to delete the whole thing and couldn't. So, I'll try again.

I like it but it would be better if you had done several exposures - one long exposure to get some detail in the shadows and one just like this or maybe a little darker for the moon. And maybe a few in between (basically an HDR). Then blend them in Photoshop.
