Excellent image in terms of composition and focus. However the white baseboard detracts from what is otherwise a really good photo.

I second that. I saw the baseboard before the baby.

Thanks!

Should I try to make the whole background the same color as the baseboard in PS?

That's a healthy sized newborn! I don't mind the baseboard so much. Cute baby. :)

:D She was 3-weeks old. All I had to practice with! My wife will be providing me with a fresh subject in the next 6-weeks :) :)

Thanks! I didn't mind the baseboard either, I was honestly caught off-guard to hear about it, but of course once I did I can't stop looking at it.

I expected the PP to be talked about. I really have no idea what I'm doing there haha, just did my best.

Looks like a great shot! The tone looks slightly pink/warm? I'm not 100% sure though..haven't spent much time around babies :P

Thanks! I might agree on the pinkish tone. I struggled with how much to desaturate the skin. I think I should have brushed it and went a couple clicks more than I did. There isn't as much newborn processing technique revealing as there seems to be. A lot of action propaganda and lighting tips, but not so much real LR and PS tutorials. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Pink is fine; many newborn babies are yellowish/jaundiced at birth but we normally expect to see pinkish skin so that works fine. See here: http://help.smugmug.com …mer/portal/articles/93363 (external link)

You could certainly attempt to clone out the baseboard but that looks like a major task in Photoshop. One other thing I'd suggest is burning the diaper cover so it doesn't immediately draw the viewer's eyes.

Cute baby :-)

I would like to see some change if I'm the one paying the shoot:
1. As PixelMagic, either get a nicer back ground, or PP out the white baseboard
2. Remove the diaper / nappy and position the baby carefully with her leg to cover the genital area.

Thanks for the sharing!

.....and I would loose the headband, change the background (seamless) and keep the pink diaper.
Everything else is quite good.....lighting, expression, angle, focus and colour are super.

Thank you everyone for the feedback so far! I am getting really eager to shoot my own baby in just a few weeks.

Here's another edit... Let me know!
