Newborn shot, how'd I do?

OK... she was 3 weeks old, just out of newborn, but I needed the practice.

Not much chatter on this in the C&C section so figured I'd repost here. Sorry for the redundancy.

Lines from the base boards is distracting a little

Beautiful skin tone and focus, but as bigcarbs said, that white baseboard pulls the eye away.

A black background would have totally made your subject popped, especially that purple. Otherwise, a nice shot and well lit. Anymore from this series?

That pink one is the money shot. It's way, way better (to my mind) than the one with the purple. The purple one has the feet protruding into the foreground, and that big diaper cover, and the baseboards, and and and. This one is simple and perfect and the color of the blanket adds to it, it doesn't detract. I love the texture that it adds, without overpowering the image. Love, love that last one. Love.

Recently got portraiture for dealing with the skin tones on this baby. This is my first attempt at using it. Does this seem overdone?

I find that the majority of skin smoothing I see coming out of "Portraiture" is overdone, yes. This is certainly riding the edge of being overdone, although I have seen babies with skin that smooth in real life. It's a beautiful photo though, maybe slightly overcooked.

to me, in the pink background image - her skin looks too pink/reddish. any way to tone that down while leaving the rest of the image as is?

Yea I agree, It really is a pretty powerful program, I think I will like it once I get the balance right. I'm gonna rerun this one. Thanks!

I have gone back and forth with this, this baby was pretty pink, as some are. I can tone down just the skin yea, I'll run it again and see what happens. Thanks!

Still working on dialing in skin tone/smoothness and preserving detail. Here's another one. Each edit I learn a little more and ultimately I'm gonna have to redo all the initial ones lol.
