I'm interested in the latest body between 6D and 70D.
After reading many postings, I'm still lost as to which will give better tracking AI servo mode on taking candid photos of 3-10yrs children?

As far as lenses, I have collected a few but not overly sway from from cropped vs FF, I just wanted an all around camera for personal usage [family photos, portraits, trip to the mountains, some video). Currently I have 50D that I mainly use at the office. I would like to pickup a 2nd camera and stay at home for recreation usage.

Much appreciate for all your inputs.

Save your money and get a 70D. The 6D is a brilliant low light portrait camera and works fantastic for concerts/events, portraits, and car shows. It isn't the best for fast action though. I hear it has bad moire, but don't shoot video, so I've never actually checked it out. The sample videos of the 70D I've seen are great with the new AF. I'd say the 6D is a specialized camera with superior IQ, but the 70D is the best all around.

Kanji,
Thanks for your honest opinion. I do like the fell of 6D over the 70D on my hands but that can develop over time, I guess.
I just don't want to have buyer remorse after the 70D and wishing to have the 6D instead.

Get the 70D if you care about AF and be happy about it.

2 very different camera for very different purposes.

If you go with the 6D route you'll want the 5D3 in no time and that will cost a lot more money.

It sounds to me that the 70D would be a better fit for you. It is better at action shooting, and has incredible full time focus during video recording. It just does a lot of things well.

70d is better in AIservo and tracking. The 6d is better for still life and high ISO work.

Enjoy whichever one you get! :)

I shoot with a 5DIII every now and then (My good friend and my step-mother have one) and I still don't have buyers remorse over my 6D, works wonderfully for my needs ;)

That said, for what OP describes, I would get the 70D and save some money if it's just going to be an at home camera.

Thank you for everyone suggestion. I figure I will settle with 70D. Another question, does anyone know if Canon 28-135mm lens is a good pair with 70D. It is not STM, but how bad would it be on focusing and recording?

70D is more user friendly, 6D will produce better results. the 28-135 will be a million time better on the 6D. It's a slowish lens as is, so you'll need that high ISO performance the 6D gives.

Not sure why you need another lens since you already own Tamron 17-50 as suggested in your signature.

If you want a longer general purpose lens, consider getting the 18-135 STM with the body?

EDIT - Oh you own the 28-135 already...I'd sell it and get the 18-135 STM, but still don't see the need of that.

Thank you once again, so are you suggesting the 17-50 is good pairing with 70d ? Even for video? Btw, the 17-50 is nonVC

For stills the Tamron will do the job just fine.

With video, I'd go 18-135 STM....IS stablizes the image, and STM ensures smooth transition during AF recording.

I have the 28-135, and a 60D and a 5D. Don't bother with this lens on a 70D.

Get the 18-55 STM kit lens. If you need more focal length, consider the 55-250 STM. The 18-135 STM will quickly become redundant when you find out it isn't long enough and have to buy the 55-250 STM, anyway.

Dedicated APS-c shooter. Gripped 60D, 60 2.8, 10-22, 15-85, Σ70-200 OS and a big white something or other! Plus a 5D w/28-75.
