MF, er, the sensor being 2 or 3 times bigger than a FF 35mm sensor would mean a bigger body right? Or at least a new shape to avoid confusion... I can see all the "My lens does not fit on my camera?" posts now.

Indeed, that's why I posted the original (with the image above) on the 'general rumours' page rather than the one (starting in 2006) covering MF related stuff ;-)a

http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/canon_medium_format_2ff.html (external link)

On the MF side it's interesting to see that both Sony and Nikon are listed in the exhibitor info for Photoplus in the 'General - Cameras (Medium Format/Large Format' category

As to "My lens does not fit on my camera?"...
There is only so much allowance that you can make for people with that much money and so little understanding ;-)a

bye for now

Let's hope it's not a replacement for the 5D mkIII. I don't want to see my camera's resale value plummet.

You forgot to add "just yet" to that statement. For certainly Canon will replace the 5D mkIII at some stage! You need to enjoy your camera, not fret about what its worth.

Nice concept/idea. As long as the DR performs best at low ISOs.

I could care less how it performs, I'm interested in the chick magnet factor. If it works in this area, that's all that matters.

How much of a rumor is this rumor just out of interest?

According to Northlight-Images (NL) (source of rumor) it's an invitation to an event in Germany, which translated would read:

be there live. Experience the highlights of Canon products accompanied by an exciting stage performances and seminars on the subject of professional imaging. One of these dates can not afford to miss, each 13-20 clock.

(1pm to 8pm?)

So NL has concluded there may be no actual announcement concerning a new camera body, the invite just looks cool by using a pseudo-silhouette of a 1Dx.

Since Canon won't come up with a decent new sensor ...
Sounds like they will come up with a new larger format.
How White of them !!

Emm, doesn't seem to have been enough hype lately for a new 1D body to be announced this month, or any time soon, so I guess you're right.

Ya but you'd never get a good shot with it. Those damn Storm Troppers couldnt hit the broad side of a Imperial Starship with a lazer gun!

The nerd is weak with you. Storm troopers were excellent shots.

Just paparazzi won't be able to use it, as storm troopers can't hit movie stars when shooting at them. Targeting anyone else is basically dead on.

I read it will be something higher than the 5d mark III. Didn't the 5d just come out?

Hoping for a high-megapixel, high-DR camera, now that Sony's come out with a 36MP Exmor camera that can take Canon lenses...
