3OH!3 and The Ready Set in concert

Here's a couple from a 3OH!3 and The Ready Set concert I shot this past weekend. I was working just for myself and the show was at the college I used to attend. My fraternity brother was in charge of the whole concert, and knew I like to shoot shows, so he asked me if I wanted a pass. It was a blast, the biggest show I've shot.


I decided to try out some black-and-white conversions (just tweaking in lightroom myself, no actions or presets), and I'm really pleased with how they came out. Comment and critique are VERY welcome, be as nice or as harsh as you want!

The first one is great - really nice light and tones. Second one isn't a bad photo, but for showing your work, not an obvious choice. Third one is good too - nice moment and expression, light and tones, shame about the cut finger. Fourth I find the band have got a bit lost, there's either too much crowd or not enough difference in the lighting to pick them out - fifth is better for this but unfortunately the performer is facing away so the moment isn't ideal. Sixth to me shows more of his shoe and the ceiling than anything else, the seventh better but again with the wide angle, the subject is going away from you and becoming less visible the further up you look - shots like these can be really nice when the performer leans down towards you a bit.

More of a theatre and dance photographer than music, but hope this helps. There's some great concert shooters around these parts.

I'm really feeling that first one too. Love it in fact!!
