I thought I would throw this out and maybe Helen can enlighten us here. I have been looking through Ebay to buy some films. Adorama by far has the best price. Here is the strange thing about the shipping charge. If you purchase multiple items or quantities of the same, identical items, you get a shipping discount. Now, if you combine with multiple items of different products, let's say 1 roll of Tmax100 and 1 roll of Kodak Etkar 35mm (total of 2 items), you don't get a shipping discount. In fact, your shipping charge would get doubled.

Contact Adorama's eBay department through eBay and I'm sure they'll adjust the invoice once you purchase and before you paid.

I ordered a used lens from them and asked if I can pick it up to avoid shipping charges and if I can pay in the store. They said no problem. So I went during lunch, picked up the lens and paid for it at the counter.

They may not be shipping from the same location.

Odd, indeed!

I'd need the SKu #s or a link to the product pages to check it out - email me: Helen@adorama.com (external link)

Helen, just go to your Ebay store and just randomly adding different products. You would see that the shipping charge would just double. I just tried some random products and got the shipping charge tripled. :) I added 3 different products.

After you put all them in your cart there's a button "request a shipping quote'. You can even add a your message there. Click it, wait till adorama workers manually set you discount and pull the trigger.

Got a response from the eBay manager; probably best to paste it here:

Sorry Helen… I’ve checked the system and it seems to work just fine.

(http://www.ebay.com …_Film&hash=item4d13667d87 (external link))
For quantity 1, it was $4.48 and for quantity 75 of them it jumped to $7.08

(http://www.ebay.com …_Film&hash=item4d12e69e06 (external link))
For quantity 1, it was $4.48 and for quantity 33 of them it jumped to $5.28

http://www.ebay.com …_Film&hash=item5af60fdc1c (external link)
For quantity 1, it was $4.48 and for quantity 33 of them it jumped to $4.64

Combine them all together and you get a further discount.

I don’t know what the customer is asking. Please ask them to refresh their Internet Explorer or web browser and try again.

If the items were all the same and multiple quantities of that 1 item, the shipping discount would apply. But if he purchased different items, the shipping discount is not applied. That is what he is referring to.

Here is example

IMAGE: http://i39.tinypic.com/1orv4k.png

The image above shows 1 item of each product but there is no discount in the shipping.

If you purchase multiple of the same item, the shipping discount is applied.

Meaning take the 75 + the 33 etc…. the combined discount still applied in the test order.

Helen, 1Kind got it right. I don't understand what you mean by combining them. All different products are in the same shopping cart as if being shipped by three different vendors. There are no options to choose if the vendors are the same or different. I believe, like others suggested, you have to request for an invoice to resolve the shipping charge anomaly.

I hope he is right but I am not seeing it as so. Here, I just added 4 random products in my shopping cart and they are all from Adorama.

IMAGE: http://www.oneimagingphotography.com/Other/potn/i-t5Lk9Gj/0/XL/adorama-XL.jpg

I see no options there to specify if all 4 products are being shipped from the same or different vendors. They are assumed to be from the different vendors. The next step I clicked on Checkout.

I am about to pay the total with 4 different shipping charges.

Again, I hope your manager is right because I and others aren't seeing it.
