That is the reason I still don't have the Quadra. I've heard too many people compain about it. I do have three sets of Ranger RX Speed AS packs, though. They're built like tanks. Heavy like tanks, too, though. ;)

I was going to purchase the ranger, but I needed to compromise and go with AC lights inside whilst still having the location option. Also the weight of the Quadra had to be taken into account as my wife or daughter will be holding the pack and boom arm

They did throw in the USB Module, 18cm reflector and 18cm grid for free though as an offer :)

I own a DSLR, some lenses and some lights.

I've had the 2 Quadra kits A&S for almost 4 years now never had a issue with the product. No broken adapters or mounting screw problems like a lot of others have. My kits still look like they did when i bought them.

I use then on every shoot either studio or location work. I've built my own speed ring inserts and adapters, so I can use them on any modifier from largest to small. Some times I do like to have more power or faster recycle times, but I can tame the sun and even darken it 3 stops.

So congrats on your purchase and I would add a maxilite to your order.

Thanks Scott, that's a cracking shot as always so I shall have to sneak a maxilite into the gear list ;)
Good to know your kit has lasted all those years without a hitch!

Hey Windpig yes I do!!! I also ordered the snappy case and the elinchrom boom arm! Has anyone used the Deep Octa 70cm? Wondering if cancelling it and just going with a maxilite with the deflector and sock might be a better option to begin with..........(and much cheaper) !?

I would not consider the 70mmDO and Maxilite interchangeable, but, after getting a Fotodiox 36" octa with grid, I wouldn't have picked up the 70mm DO. The 70mm DO certainly has a lot of looks to it with the deflecter, inner and/or outer diffuser. It's very nice and light weight and easy to put together.

I must say I hope the performance is worth the £1250 because the build quality certainly isn't!

Never had an issue with the build quality of the Quadra in about three years of owning two sets.

People want light, then complain that it's not built like the Ranger. Shock.

Ralph has no clue what hes talking about since he owns gear but never uses it other then shooting a mannequin or his self. LOL

The Fotodiox EZ-Pro is the better choice for an Octa over the 70cm elinchrom. The Maxilite is what you need to shoot in full sun when using a 400ws pack.

I think that's exactly what Ralph said. So you agree with him. ;)

I did so you should reread unless you want to point out exactly where it was where Ralph said that the DO is better than the Fotodiox, like I did in my previous post to prove my point.

First off there is no 70mm octa by elinchrom it's a 70cm
Second he was talking about the maxilite which is my main modifier of choice. I was agreeing with him on the ez-pro but dis agreeing on the maxilite
