First off there is no 70mm octa by elinchrom it's a 70cm
Second he was talking about the maxilite which is my main modifier of choice. I was agreeing with him on the ez-pro but dis agreeing on the maxilite

I think the 70mm vs 70cm is a typo which I wouldn't even make a big deal about other than to mention it, if necessary, in passing.

As for the Maxilite, I don't think he made any comparison between it and the DO. As a matter of fact, he even said that they were not interchangeable which I agree with. They don't produce the same type of lighting as each has its own unique characteristics. One may prefer one over the other but they are not interchangeable. ;)

So you're saying the Maxilite and 27DO (700MM DO )are interchangeable?

I've have both and shoot with the 70cm and the Maxilite and they produce the same light only thing different from the two in power output. Thats my 2 cents

Scott, so if I bought the Maxilite you reckon it would cover studio work at low power as well? Trying to kill two birds with one stone here, Maxilite £74 in the UK vs the DO at £204.........

I own a DSLR, some lenses and some lights.

It like a spot at low power and the light fall off is quick. You can use a sock to cover the front for softer light and use a disk diffuser. If i remember right this shot was shot at f/8 1.0 power

If i had to pick one modifier to use it would be the maxilite

:D

I went out today on this beautiful sunny fall day spent about an hour with the maxilite working on dialing in the the ambient/flash using some of what you've been suggesting. 3 Stop ND filter worked like a champ.

No wind, so the 700mm DO would have been okay:cool:

Whooo Hooo Ralph

Whats nice that my old batteries BP3.6-12 cost $12.50‎+tax to replace it instead of buying the new Elinchrom Quadra Li-Ion Battery and Charger 499.99. For that price I would buy a cheetah cl-360. ;)

Holy crap!
I wonder what the equivalent Ranger RX batteries are going for.
