The game will last 7 days and whoever can produce the best edited image (as judged by me) will be picked and it'll be their turn to post their unedited picture for all of us to take a crack at.

The participants must have their "Image Editing OK" turned on and they must provide at least a simple breakdown of how they edited the image, some entrants are a little vague on this point, please give us all details so we can learn and share tips. For instance if you use the unsharp mask tool or Smart Sharpen, provide us with the adjustments you used so others can try them out.

You can post multiple images, but the first image you post will be the one that is judged - all other images will be considered for knowledge and tip use only. Feel free to comment and/or ask questions at any time. This is a good competition for learning new methods, so let's make it a bit more dynamic. I will be judging edits, not comments. Feel free to comment on the original image as well.

If you happen to be the winner of the game please start the next one with the title of the game and the following number. For example…the next game should read "Before & After #492".

Submissions end, Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 11:59pm (Pacific Standard Time) and a winner will be announced.

I've been taking shots of my nephews playing mid-day soccer...it's been a struggle editing...so i'm hoping to gain some tips here :)

Opened in Camera Raw and adjusted exposure, whites, shadows and highlights. Cropped, sharpened, then opened in CS6. Duplicated BG then made B&W conversion and put into soft light mode. Then did HDR toning and desaturated. Then painted back tongue in layer mask and smart sharpened to finish.

Lightroom- white balance and slight clarity bump (LR3).

PS- Figured i would use this challenge to play with luminosity masks. So, in RGB channel select "Control alt 2" to select highs (only command i know for that) :) then "control shift i" to inverse selection giving me the darks. Play with curves/exposure for a fine tuned "fill" approach. This way is probably stupid/unnecessary with the more recent versions of lightroom. I have no idea though. :)

I took the picture and lowered the brightness, raised the contrast, raised blacks, raised vibrance, dropped the keylight a bit, adjusted highlights and shadows, cropped, messed with the brightness/contrast/render lighting....This was difficult and I sort of gave up trying to do what I was aiming for but it doesn't look bad! :P

Harder than it looks, awesome work colt4570, would have loved to see it be a bit darker and have some nice vibrant colors, I'll look back on this thread for my next shoot :)

I have started from Six6Sicks conversion. So if by any chance this one wins (which is highly improbable) I'll let him continue.

alright everyone some really good entries...i liked the fun ones with the pro player, and the player card aspect...may have to attempt some of that...for me though it came down to six6sick, and colt4570...and the winner is Colt4570, i think the desaturated porta-potty was the kicker...
