I've come across this mount twice. It is interchangeable, but it's not M42, M39, T, or T2. The adapter uses 3 set screws to secure to the lens mount. It is not a screw mount/threaded mount. I came acroos this once on a Sigma 600mm with a Nikon adapter, and this one is on a Quantaray 500mm mirror. Thanks!

If steroids are illegal for athletes, should PS be illegal for models?

My guess is that it's the female threaded portion of a standard two piece T2 adapter. The male part (not shown) with Canon, Nikon etc mount can be rotated, then fixed with the set screws on the dovetail.

Looks like someone tightened the set screws and tried to unscrew the adapter without success.

You're right. It's one half of a T2 (the other half I had taken off), I got it off, and my T2 - EOS adapter fits. I feel silly. Thanks!
