Well, wanted to find a camera I could take to concerts where I might not be able to get a dslr in, so took a chance on the G15 for the Nails show in Cleveland. It's definitely not like having the 5DII with the 50/1.4 or the 100/2.0, but I think it did respectable for a point and shoot. Was an AWESOME show... I've not seen so much energy out of Trent since several tours ago...

The photos all have a strange softness to them, like when you apply too much noise reduction. Did you do NR on these? Personally I think it's better to have noisy images than overly reduced ones.

Personally, if I'm not actually shooting the show, I never take a camera with. Maybe I've just become overly fussy, but the lack of clarity and the limited angle you end up with from your seat means I know I won't be happy with the photos.

yeah, looking through them again, I'm feeling the same way... even the raw files have little decent sharpness to them...

sigh, am I to try the Sony RX100???

You could try a M4/3s camera. I use an Olympus Pen Mini at concerts these days and have managed to get acceptable shots. It's not ever going to be the same as shooting with DSLR from the photo pit, but if you're just wanting to have something to remember the event by, then it's fine.

Yeah, I would say that camera isn't really cut out for a live show (at least from that vantage point).

Read the description intro and was excited to see what you got but sorry I too am a bit disappointed from a critical point of view. They are good point and shoot moments but I don't see much use for them commercially. I had higher hopes for that camera...
