Would you trade your original 5d for the new 6d with all the goodies? And why or why not. Its tempting with the new rebate and sale

Straight up trade ?

Yes i would. More modern tech, Still Full Frame, More MP, Faster Shutter Speeds And im not sure but im guessing higher iso performance in low light as well. & i imagine a beautiful lcd display unlike the 5d classic.

That an the 5ds are only worth around $500's now about 1/3 the price of a 6d.

Even trade, sure. Not if I had to pay $1,500 ($2,000 for 6D - $500 sell 5D). Let's see what I would get for my money.

Roughly the same raw IQ.

An AF system comparable to my 5D with a Speedlite AF-assist beam. (Granted, the 6D will work at longer distances.)

MFA. I have never need this. I am currently using my 4th and 5th Canon bodies.

GPS, WIFI and video. I'd never use any of them. I know, I'm old.

A bunch of in-camera marketing tricks that you can do in DPP, PSE or LR.

4.5 fps. Well, it is faster than 3. $1,500 worth of faster? No to me.

Things I wish were better on my 5D, but aren't actually worth paying for:
Better, bigger rear LCD.
ISO in VF.
More EC range.
Better menu system.
None of that is worth $1,500 to me. I'll keep my 5D.

Frames per second.

I think what the red highlighted text was referring too was the faster shutter speed - i.e. 1/8000 on the 5Dc and 1/4000 on the 6D. So the 5Dc can shoot with a lower aperture (wide open) in the same light as the 6D. However the difference is really more in theory than in practise - a ND filter quickly sorts that out, and in real world terms its not really a deal breaker.

Or have I botched that? :p

I think setting aside all the of the newer technologies, such as the wifi, and gps, the barebones differences come down to higher ISO capability of the 6D.

If you can get a straight up trade then jump at that opportunity. Back when I had a 5Dc and it was almost permanently attached to my hand. Now the 5D3 takes that place

I swapped my 5dc for a 6D. The built in sensor cleaner was worth the switch in itself. That being said I think I still like the file from the 5Dc better and the battery grip was a better shape for me as well.

Is this an offer to trade cameras or an exploration of imaginary scenarios?

Man, I just sold my 5Dii in favor of a refurbished 6D from Adorama and think it was a darned good move… 5Dc would be a no-brainer!

I think you have it backwards. If I could trade 5DC's for 6D's I would be buying all the
5D's I could find. I'm thinking in lieu of trade it should be upgrade.
