Just have not been shooting much of anything, sports included, for a number of reasons but I took the gear to a tournament my middle son was playing in and remembered how much I do enjoy shooting. Like anything though, time away from practicing hurts performance and while I got some keepers, it was obvious that I need to be out there more. This was even clearer yesterday when I shot my oldest in two games against UMass and Penn St. I'll post some from those games later....

7.and since I needed the practice, a few shot more or less into the sun (tough always but with dark skin, even tougher for me)

Well your keepers are very nice, I would like to see your results after you get a bit more practise.

Thanks guys. Those neon jerseys sucked to shoot by the way. All of these are with a lowly Canon 1DM3 and Canon 70-200 f/2.8 MkII with 1.4x TC attached.

Good shots Scott! I know what you mean about those neon jerseys. When I do T&I pics, the flash totally changes the original color.

Those were in Erie but Lodi is our home fields. It does go quickly...watched my middle son play here one weekend then traveled to Penn St. to watch my oldest play college level the next. Seems like he was at Lodi last year and now he's a man...crazy stuff but they all make life so much more fulfilling and rich, wouldnt trade it for anything.

Really? I could swear the bokeh was from a 300/400 f2.8 lens. I just don't see how you managed to get such fantastic bokeh at f/4.

'Bokeh' or probably better described as a shallow dof or a more blurred background is a lot more a function of focal length and framing / subject distance then it is aperture. Even a tightly composed shot at 280mm and f4 will have quite a bit more blurred background then a much looser shot at 300mm or 400mm and f2.8.
