This is the time of year when swamp sunflowers bloom en masse along the north shore of Lake Jesup (near Orlando/Sanford). After having plenty of people telling me I needed to get out there (apparently photogs at dawn along the 417 highway are a common nuisance
), I decided this weekend I had enough energy to get up pre-dawn and see what I could shoot.
All with a 24-105 on a 5DII, either f/11 or f/4. I struggled for a time just as the sun was getting above the low-horizon cloud with my lens fogging up constantly, but eventually it got better. Very annoying/frustrating.
Weird bokeh in first shot is probably due to shooting through a high chain link fence - the authorities don't like you hopping the fence, and the very large gators in Lake Jesup love it...
They (the flowers, not the gators) are supposed to last maybe another week, if anyone in the Orlando area wants to check it out - you might have this weekend, but I make no promises...
