I have discovered the culprit. It is caused by the Adobe Camera Raw profile for this lens. It's the first time I have seen this happen. OK it is definitely in the lens profile of ACR for Lightroom. But it only shows up on noisy areas with lots of the same tone and is emphasized by use of the clarity slider. I honestly don't see the point, we spend so much money on bodies and lenses and then dump the whole thing into software? Those who claim "I only shoot RAW" would probably understand what I'm talking about, Try our DSLR Simulator
