Snow Lakes Basin

Here are some images from our trip to the Snow Lakes last weekend. The plan was to make it to the Enchantments; however, we decided to turn back after a night at the Snow Lakes due to snow and ice everywhere. Even with the truncated trip, we got a good workout lugging our 50# packs 13 miles, up and down 4200’ of elevation gain. I was hoping to do a day hike through the area now that I’m in shape from our backpacking trip; however, it looks like it will be getting some snow this week, so I will have to wait till next year.

A good workout is an understatement. My only regret is that I didn't do this hike earlier in the season. Next spring this will be my first trip, so the rest of my trips seem that much easier.

Thank you and yes I find myself fixated on the location as well. It's just so beautiful up there and unfortunately so inaccessible for most of the year.

Very nice shots, Robert. Your hiking is impressive, especially to an old geezer. Too bad the weather limited your trip.

Thanks Stan, there were a quite few geezers on the trail tearing it up; some in great shape, others not so much.

Thanks for the cooment; That is a downed tree beneath the water in the FG.

That Milky Way shot is gorgeous! I have to get there some day!!
