I am both a Canon and a Pentax guy...unusual combination I know. But then back in the film days I used, had (still have) a Mamiya medium format system....with 3 Mamiya-Sekor lenses, Pentax system and Leica Rangefinder.

Anyways the focus of this thread is the new Pentax DSLR (ASP-C) which was just announced.

Many interesting features....the usual flagship Pentax, very rugged magnesium alloy body, with 92 weather seals....but new to the K-3....200,000 shutter actuation rating, 8.3 FPS, AA filter system you can either use or not use, 24 MP sensor...believe Pentax went with Toshiba after using Sony Exmoor (same as Nikon uses) for many years.

There's much more....ie; very powerful metering, etc.

Combine this with the highly rated Pentax Limited series prime lens and it's quite a combination.

Ricoh the Japanese copier giant took over Pentax in late 2011 and word is that much R+D is going into this old, venerable line of fine optics and camera equipment.

I left Pentax few months ago. However, I still keep my K5, I was also impressed with the K3. I may jump into it.

It's not a photo until you print it!

Same here I am a Canon shooter with a few good lenses for Pentax. I am not going to get to excited until the test reports come in. I have the K-5 and it was a big disappointment for me.

Live between San Antonio, Texas and Thailand. I spend about 9 months a year in Thailand and 3 in Texas.

Damn, what an ugly sonofa... It looks like my ancient EOS2000. The 90's called and want their camera back.

Still, can't argue that Pentax makes some of the best cheap DSLRs, I mean, 2 card slots? 25 cross type points? 25mp with no AA filter? For only $1,300? Canikon am cry.

I acquired an expensive camera so I can hang out in forums, annoy wedding photographers during formals and look down on P&S users... all the while telling people it's the photographer, not the camera.

It has an AA filter. It's just they use the moving image sensor to mimic a no-AA effect.

The AA filter is apparently digital, and I believe it mimics an AA filter when "on".

You got that backwards yo, the sensor has no filter, and they make it move during exposure to mimic an AA effect. How can you un-blur an image by doing something that typically blurs the image?
