Critique my edit? Before and After

First Image is SOOC, Second went through LR 4.4, PS CS6 (w/ Portraiture filter)

This is my first time using portraiture so I am just curious how it turned out?

I may dial back the opacity of the portraiture layer a touch to let a little more detail through.

nice skin tone,ya post the re,edit with a bit more detail.

i like it, but there's overall too much pink in the photo. the bg, the flower, even the skin has a tinge to it.

I agree! I'm just learned how to use hue/sat in PS to single out a color and warm it up, still trying to get the masking of the lips and areas where I want to retain the reds down. Still learning!

When you have white in your image, you might try using Adobe Camera Raw to help you set the WB. You select the first eyedropper and click on something white in the image. This is similar to using a white card although it may still need a little adjustment to get it correct. Here's your image after I use the eyedropper and the white flower to set WB. I didn't make any other changes.

thanks for the tip Bob! I think the fur also caused a cast on the skin, I followed a tutorial online to single out a certain red town and change only it. My only hang up has been to mask off the lips properly and change opacity enough to round it all out. I'll have another edit up soon where hopefully it looks better!

Just to add, this ( http://dnaphotographyw​ny.com …wny-newborn-photographer/ ) is my "inspiration" for this. I have never done newborns and just got the camera this summer. What are these photog's doing differently in post?

And a side by side by side of the first shot redone again. I've been staring at these too long, I can't distinguish what's what anymore. What one looks better?

IMHO, they're still over saturated. Here's a quick edit on just the color that I think looks more accurate (if that's the look you're wanting).

Thanks for helping out! I'm not sure about that color, looks a bit flat and green on my monitor. I'll try splitting the difference and see what happens.
