I would guess that like myself, a lot of people here don't show a lot of favor to this side of birds, which I guess is why there were so many views and no replies, all the way to page 5, though I would guess this one is a rehabbed Owl, lucky to have the care that it gets, which is pretty cool. Number two is is beautiful, very well done. Beautiful colors and detail. I guess she would have to be very careful with feeding to not get a quick snap and a missing finger, lol. Great shots all in all!!

Great series of photos, very crisp and perfectly exposed.

These birds are so impressive, I was surprised at how large they are the first time I got close.

Wow, that's a large owl. That second image is excellent.

There will be days when you get the shot(s) you missed days, months or years before.

Thank you everyone for your kind words.
The last image is deceiving, but she didn't get nipped by the owl.
For being so large, you don't even hear it when it flies a few inches over your head.

I couldn't help responding to the conversation regarding Wally the Eurasian Eagle-owl. We visited the World Center for Birds of Prey in August 2013 where we had the privilege of meeting this fellow during a demonstration by the falconer shown in the photographs. If I remember correctly, he was hatched in captivity in Florida some months earlier, and was almost 3 ft tall and FIVE pounds when we saw him. His home is now the World Center outside Boise. He is loaded with sass and personality, and is an excellent ambassador for the World Center. Apparently the Center had to go on a waiting list for this bird, and he was worth the wait. The photography capturing him and his falconer at work is stunning. Thank you!
