I have a barely used 85mm 1.2 mk2 lens and I was offered a year old 5d mk2. Would you do it?

No, I wouldn't. What you should do depends on your circumstances.

The lens does not get used often since I prefer the 85mm 1.8 due to its faster focusing and I dont havve to baby it while doing a shoot.

Do you need full frame now? If not sell the 85 1.2 and wait for the price of the 5DII to drop a bit more (which will be when the price of the 5DIII drops and people sell their 5DII to upgrade).

You can pickup a 5d2 for $1200-1300. Is that what the 85L is worth. If the lens does not get used, get rid f it...very simple.

I have a 5Dc and a 1Dx. My fav is the 5Dc but would like to upgrade since my walk around camera is. Bit behind the time.

the 5Dc is supposed to have higher IQ (supposedly) than the 5DII. Why not just sell the lens, and buy a lens you would use? Or sell it and save a bit more and get a 6D since you're using it for a walk about the lighter weight might be welcome.

You can sell the lens and get a used 5D2 plus $500 in your pocket?

I mean why would you do a straight up trade???

how many shots on the camera? How does it look? Like new or beat up? If you don't use the lens, might as well trade it for something you use. But not something that's been heavily used, if your lens is like new.

40D, 5D3, a bunch of lenses and other things

well if you were to trade you would be losing money, might as well sell it and buy another camera and pocket the rest of the cash.

Thanks guys it's just so hard to let it go. The more I hold the 85mm the more I fall in love to it.

It's just a lens...not a status symbol. If you don't use it, sell it. Does not matter if professionals use it, if it ain't right for you, get rid of it.

Hold it and falling in love with it is just dumb.
