Hi,

I am using this old 19" of my dad's with my laptop and it's horrible (no matter how I calibrate it the some colors are way off). Time to get a new one.

Any deals out there? I think I am willing to spend anywhere from $300 to even $700 if it's that much better. I'll probably get a calibrator afterwards. Would like at least a 24".

Also, it needs to have either a standard HDMI or DVI input. None of those other fancy dual port or display port types.

Thanks! :)

This is one of the sites I look at when I am trying to find deals. It is constantly updated. Going to be going down this road in a few months myself once I start doing some post processing.

Am sure others can share what to look for like IPS, 100,000,000:1, etc

Good luck. Curious to see what folks recommend.

If you don't mind a couple (less than 5) dead pixels:

thanks, but I want to avoid non-brand-names. plus those are dual-dvi--can't connect to those as I mentioned.

I'm rather 'duh' when it comes to what is available now in monitors. I'm still using my five year old HP w2408h which has been great. I will look for another (or the upgraded version) when I need one. It's easy to calibrate and right on the money.

I would recommend the Dell 24" U2412M. Great for the money, IPS display with 1920 x 1200. Color rendition is pretty great considering the price and competitors. If you don't mind slightly used, I would try Amazon Warehouse. I picked up my second one from there under $250 and I'm sure you can find multiple raving reviews about this monitor's performance.

Dell has the slightly smaller 23" refurbished for $150. If you can live with that size it's a great deal. Coupon code 38R7N8ZHQNGBBX is necessary....it's good for an extra 30% off the refurbished prices. Here's the link to the Dell refurbished monitors.

dammit.... right when I was about to enter the credit card # I find out the coupon JUST expired, like 1min ago. sigh.

looks like I will get 24" version from bhphoto then (thanks d.ho for the tip)... oh well, would have been a great deal. in fact, reason I missed it by 1min is because I was thinking about buying 2... and thought about it too long. sad

It did expire last night. Sorry you missed it. If you can wait, new deals surface daily. Techbargains is a good spot to keep an eye on

I have one of these for my office computer. No dead pixels, and it's every bit as good as my 27" iMac at home.

Check monoprice.com too. Their 27" and 24" Pro series are rumored to be the same as Dell or even Apple panels?

I've never done business with these (external link) guys, but it may be worth checking out. I'd like to know what they define as "refurbished". $179 is an awesome price for an ACD. I'd also make sure, with them, that this is HD. Does it include the power brick and cord? Etc...

Personally, I own 4 ACD's (2 x 30" & 2 x 23) and love them. Never had any issues, but mine were purchased new. I do both image and video editing as well as graphics. Not glossy which is my preference. The only down side is USB 2 and FW400, 2 ports of each on the back. Built rock solid and, at-least for me, are very accurate.

Just another option.
