My first wedding. I was an assistant untill a d2x malfunctioned, leaving me in the primary roll. It was a medieval wedding as you can see!

This wedding was pretty disorganized, no time for formals was given, and it was outdoors with a harsh 12pm light where they walked into the tent, and the tent was too dark to even read easily in.

These are nice candid wedding shots. They could use a little work (increase the saturation in all shots and adjust the highlights/shadows in #6). A few hours in front of the computer, and you would have some really nice memories for the bride & groom.

Looks to me like you did extremely well!
The only shot of those posted that deserves any criticism at all is the outside shot, which seems a bit low in contrast.

However, your use of flash is masterful. The outside shot has just enough flash to keep everyone's sun shadows softened.

On the indoor shots - only #2 shows any flash characteristic shadow.

Congratulations on a great job!

To add more info.

This was at the medieval fair, as the theme suggests. Possibly 5000 people there. All were allowed to watch and spectate, and as soon as I asked one to clear another popped up.

After the reception they would ride across the field with the entire attendence following (like tradition) and have the king and queen annouce them and have a jousting contest for the next hour. THe couple decided they were hungry and skipped the hour long joust and went to the reception hall, telling some friends of the decision (but not photographer or wedding planner). So, when we tracked them down, the food wasn't there obviously, as we were an hour early, and cold turkey sucks, the chapagne wasnt cold, and the DJ wasnt there.

No time was allocated for the traditional "Get back up on stage and pose for shots".

All shots were shot in aperature priority, with ETTL enabled (rear curtain sync in case of motion). I adjusted the exposure compensation as needed when I noticed histogram falloffs or spikes.

Circ Polarizer was used on outdoor shots to get somewhat of a 12pm sky.
