I think black and white...or toned in my case just adds a little more realizm because of the style of train. Here's the color version of my last edit for example.

Your trying to put a "TOY" train into a realistic setting and it doesn't work. Place the train in a toy
like setting and it will look much better. One photo has con trails in the sky no jets in the steam era.

My thought process, was to use your imagination, of a model train coming to life in present day...
