Wife decided to fix tacos for supper. I was on the computer on another site messing around. When I got the call, Peeeettttteeeee can you go to the garden and get us a bell pepper? Argh! So I get up off the lazy tush and headed out the door lamenting my not wanting to go (as the garden is about 60 yards behind the house) and I was busy doing other things. Anyhow about 30 yards into the travels I was sent on a different adventure! I caught something scurrying around the base of a tree and I froze. It could not be I thought to myself. I have only heard of such things being seen by other people, not little ole me. So I rub my eyes to make sure they are clear and working. Then I seen it flash around again. Off like a bolt of lightning to the house to retreive my camera hoping,,,,,,,,,PRAYING it would still be there. Got out the door and back where I was before the first time seeing it. Nothing. So I decided to use the fence and trees between here and there to hide me so I could get closer. When I got there still nothing. So I decided to risk it. I went around everything and out into the opening then it happened. I saw the tip of it's tail about 20 yards in the woods. I watched as it would dart here and there. I just knew I would not get to see it again. then as if on que I saw the tail heading straight towards me in the woods. I got down on one knee and squatted down on it real low like. Then I saw it coming over the top of a small mound of dirt. First the tip of the tail. Then the head and ears as if it were checking to make sure the coast was clear. That is when I fired the first burst just in case it saw me and was frightened and left. It did stop. Looked around and then out it came to show all of it's glory. I sat there taking photos forgetting about the agonizing pain from being squatted down on my knee. I forgot about the swarming sound and itching feeling left behind from the mosquitos. I even forgot about the pepper I was sent after that started this whole deal. Just sitting there, nothing but he and I ,,,,,,,,Casper the Squirrel.

A once in a lifetime chance to see something so amazing .

Beautiful squirrel. Glad I took the time to read the story behind it!
