Looking for feedback from the POTN Brain Trust...

Currently, my website was self-designed in Dreamweaver and am using SmugMug to power the gallery. With the recent changes to SM and the new options for customization, none of their templates fit into my current website design so I'm looking at other options to power my gallery. Secondary desire is to have the website powered by one provider - right now, GoDaddy hosts the non-gallery pages and SM powers the gallery. Additionally, I dislike the domain for the gallery portion - would prefer it match the other pages on my website, such as http://http://www.mynamehere.com/gallery (external link) as opposed to http://gallery.mynamehere.com (external link), which is how SM's manages the sub-domain name.

I've already tried pbase, Zenfolio, and a couple of others but none have appealed to me. An artist buddy designed his website using this provider:

http://intothedarkroom.com/products/ (external link)

It seems more to what I want to use. Does anyone here have experience with them?

I've Google-fu'd website templates and there are millions of designs available, some of which requires coding experience beyond my level. I don't want something "run of the mill" - my current design is pretty clean and simple, which I like.

I don't sell a lot of photos (that's a wholly-separate subject at the moment) so there isn't a need for a provider that offers fulfillment or payment processing; that's something I can handle on an "as-needed" basis using Mpix/Miller's/Bay/WHCC.

Thoughts?

Thanks

I'm using Wordpress and a couple plugins for my e-commerce. You can also look into Photocrati, which is also a Wordpress framework.

Here's a thread about some options:

Thanks, Mike. I checked out Photocrati - not sure if it'll fit my needs. Right now, unless someone states otherwise, I don't see WordPress as something worth pursuing.

I took a look at you link. Looks like most, if not all are using Flash. I don't own a mobile device, but I was I thought Flash doesn't play well with others, like mobile devices.

You might look at a free Wordpress site like "Portfolio Press (external link)" or for $25 you can upgrade to "Portfolio-Plus (external link)".
