Im probably one of the few that loves the 50L, would you guys recommend getting an adapter for my A7 or should I just get the Sony 55 1.8 FE?

I would get an adapter so you can use all your Canon lenses.

I haven't updated my sig but I have only one Canon lens right now, 50L. Not sure if I should keep it and buy the adapter or just go with the Sony 55 1.8.

If you still have the 5D3, an adapter will let you use the 50L on the a7 and you can continue to use the same lens on the 5D3 as always.

No, I already sold it lol. I left the 50L for now since I don't know if is like the rendering of the 55 1.8.

Ah, that changes my thoughts a bit. The 50L has the best bokeh, but the 55mm is superior in every other way.

There is one more possibility to consider: get the new Sigma 50mm Art lens (Canon-mount); it is sure to be a stunning performer. Not sure when it starts shipping, but it's release is very soon.

On the other hand, if you've sold all your Canon gear, then you may as well get the 55mm.

I would get the 55 1.8. It is not 1.2 but still fast enough and very sharp. I have both. And for the a7R, I would probably stick with 55 1.8 for its fast AF and compact size.

Hi David, yes I've sold all my in-stock Sony gear (including 3 x 60M flashes) . Although I am now only taking reserve prepay orders (mainly over at Fred Miranda), I'm staying away from selling flashes because I don't have much margin to work with.. I'm still open to accepting offers for a7, a7R, 35, and 55.

A 14mm lens is always a 14mm lens.

The next thing is how large image circle it will project and how large sensor that fits inside that image circle - so what actual field of view the camera will be able to capture from the lens.

Yep, but the confusion came about because the A7 and A7r will crop the image if a Sony E lens (as against FE) is fitted. As the particular Samyang 14mm lens in question has an 'E' mount the question was raised as to whether the body would automatically crop or not.

Since the Samyang does not have any contacts, it doesn't know what's mounted so it won't do anything. Further, I think there might be a menu option to turn off the auto cropping function but my memory might be confusing the D700's functions in this case.
