Good photo technique. Odd rust formation on the first photo of the VW. Never seen a rust pattern like that before.

it is if you paint it on or fake it.

I saw a VW with lots of fibre glass and fake rust. Recorded engine sound from a VW but a Porsche boxer engine installed. The tyres did give a hint why the owner liked to trick people to race him. :)

That's real rust. I've seen patterns like that before. Caused from the panel being damaged with several layers of old dried out brittle paint on it. When the panel was damaged the paint cracked, adhesion was broken to the metal, and it flaked away. The bare metal then rusted. Neat looking effect.

Cool pics, and a neat old V-dub. I love those little cars.

I've looked at it close up, and it's genuine...
