LOVE the first one. I really enjoy seeing these types of "reflection" shots but I don't think I've ever been anywhere where the water is that calm. The colors are just beautiful in all of your images. Well done!

Thank you. Well, I am sure you can find a lake by you that is nice and calm.

Some lakes, early morning is a great time as the sun rises for calm waters. Other times, just need to be lucky to be on a nice, calm (as in minimally windy) day.

I use a CPL (for the opposite reason) to maximise the reflection too.

There is precious little water for a couple of hundred miles around me in every direction, unless you count the Rio Grande-which I can't get to, not "legally" anyway. We do have a lake (from when they dammed up the Rio Grande to make previously aforementioned lake-which is also currently 50 ft below what it should be) but the border of South West Texas is pretty dang windy and very, VERY desolate.

I see... the words "rio grande" suddenly put up a red flag. You need to do a rain dance!

the next day, it was windy, and nowhere near as nice.

I tried the rain dance, it didn't work. I DO get downright giddy on the rare occasion that it rains here; my first year I saw it rain a total of four times, each time lasting a total of 5 minutes. Yeah, you can always tell those of us that aren't from around here because (well, besides the obvious with a population that's 87% Mexican) we're all standing on our front porches deeply inhaling the smell of rain with a look of pure bliss on our faces for the ENTIRE five minutes of our heaven on earth. Enjoy all those beautiful colors for me! Water and landscape with color of any kind other than sun-bleached white are probably the two things I miss and appreciate the most when it comes to landscape photography.
