Can't say I've EVER seen an Olds motor in a Shoe Box Chevy. Workmanship looks great & nice photos.

My father used to tell me stories of guy's he grew up with, that had tri-5 Chevy's. They learned quick that the Olds J2 Golden Rocket motors made 312hp in 57 and 58, and that they made for a cheap swap and could be made to fit in the little lighter weight Chevy's. That was hot rodding in the hills of Kentucky in the early 1960's. And I was told, it was also a necessity when your running shine like they did. I told the 56's owner that story and he loved the idea. So the Olds Rocket was in!

But not to kill the nostalgia mood, the motor is really a Chevy LS3 we cloned out to look like an Olds motor. It has an Edelbrock Victor JR EFI intake, the Olds/Cadillac air cleaner houses the drive by wire throttle body off a C5 Vette, and we moved the coil packs to a box behind the intake. We also welded a recess in the intake valley cover to house the oil fill neck. It's all coupled to an 4L60E tranny. The car is sitting on an Art Morrison chassis as well. So it should run, drive, stop, and handle like a new car.
