Can i replace my EF-S 17-55mm for a FF that will do a good job on Crop?

I really like my EF-S 17-55mm on my 60D but times have moved on and I am now FF, I would like to replace it with a FF lens that will also work on my 60D..
I am thinking maybe the 16-35mm 2.8.. Or any other suggestions.. ??

Just sell your crop kit and move on, absolutely no point to cling on it...

24-70 is probably your best alternative, although there's no IS.

If you are willing to give up wide angle on the crop, 24-70/2.8L II. If you want to get at least 18mm or 17mm in a full frame zoom lens, you are looking 16-35L or 17-40L or the equivalent in 3rd party lens.

Thing is, those lens are compromises on a crop compared to a 17-55.

Personally I'd reflect on whether or not you need to stick with crop sensors. If the answer is no, sell your 60D and 17-55 to maximize what you can get for them and move on.

Since buying my 2nd full frame body, I never used my old crop sensor stuff. I loaned my 40D, 10-22, and 17-55 on essentially a permanent basis to a friend of mine.

Seriously why even suggest this? The op is just asking about a lens, not a format or body change. Some people actually don't mind the apsc format. You don't like crop, we get it, doesn't mean others don't.

Knowing I was going to go full frame one day, I replaced my EF-S 18-135 with a 16-35 f2.8L ii. I also had a 24-105 which just wasn't 'wide enough' on the 60D, and the 16-35 fit the bill perfectly. Now that I've moved to a 5D3, the 24-105 is generally 'wide enough', but there are still times I need 'wider' and the 16-35 does just that.

Tokina 16-28 f/2.8 for FF, but can be used for cropped, although using filters with it will make it more expensive.

That's the lens I plan to buy in the near future for both my 5D II and 7D, but I also have a Tokina 11-16 that I use with the 7D.

i'd sell it, and then maybe buy a cheaper sigma 17-50OS, and just use it exclusively on the 60D...you'd save some money, and not give up much/if any IQ wise...i mean if you're going to hold onto the 60D anyways, might as well have a lens that works best for it

if you go for a FF lens, you're either giving up f2.8, IS, the wide end, or the long end...

16-35mm f2.8, gives up the long end and IS
17-40mm f4 gives up f2.8, IS, long end
24-70mm f2.8 gives up IS, wide end
tamron 24-70VC only gives up the wide end
24-105L gives up f2.8, and the wide end

if you can't afford to keep a lens just for the 60D, then you'll have to just decide what your priorities are for use on the crop

I got the Tammy 24-70 for FF, but keep my 17-55 for my crop. To go wider on FF, I got the Rokinon 14mm this week, great lens and the all manual is no issue for this kind of lens. Much sharper than any of the ultra wide zooms and a LOT cheaper too

If canon had a 24-70 with IS I'd probably have bought that, but they don't for some reason.

If I were you, I would pick the focal length I would be using when I was using the FF body as the priority. So if I wanted an UWA, I would get a 16-35 or 17-40 and have a normal for the 60D. If I wanted a normal or standard zoom, I'd get a 24-x and have a short tele on crop too.

I bought a 5D about a year ago. I played with it and couldn't find much difference for what I do, which is mainly cats, dogs and grandkids. For me, the IQ benefits do not follow the cost. Lots of money for not lots of IQ difference. I am much happier with my 60D now that I have glimpsed the other side. Or peeked down the rabbit-hole, depending on your perspective.
