Is that the new 2006 Chevy... Blazer?

I was reading through this thread, wondering how long it would be before anyone got around to a "Blazer" reference.

"Wow, that's a real Blazer"

"Why do you think they're called Blazers"

etc, etc.

It looks like the fire fighters have given up in this shot. They are kneeling down and bowing to the god fire and strife!

Jon.

Actually, Jon, I just talked to my dad, who is captain of the west chester fire department (aka the boss of those two in the picture). By the time it gets to that point, it is easier to let it burn down a little, because as soon as you start breaking the glass and panels, more air gets in and the fire gets bigger.

That makes sense. It's a "Blazin" in this shot! It looks like most of the glass is out of it at this point too. You know, we would get vehicles in our shop from time to time completely burned out. In most cases the fires could have been put out easily before they got to this point. Some of the fires were caused by garbage in the vehicles set on fire with a cigarette or the hot's from one tossed out a front window and entering a back window. Big 20 and 30 amp fuses in 10 amp circuits were another big fire starter. When a fuse pops it's because there's a real problem. What do people do? Keep putting larger fuses into the circuit until they stop popping! I guess it works but it's also a great way to turn your vehicle into a fire pit!

Jon

Well done in what looks like tough circumstances. The slow shutter speed makes the traffic look like it is going way faster than it should by the incident. At least I hope that they were not going as fast as they look to be.

Would your dad like to see all the images of the fire, I have more, just didn't post them. Maybe he can use it on for their performance review. hehehe

It's cool that your dad is the fire chief, Hey, can we do shots at the firehouse? Firetrucks are so cool.

Smugmug is in "maintanence mode" so I can't see the shots yet, but if that was around Toledo at about 7:30AM, then I was in the southbound traffic on my way to Cleveland for a job. I guess I should have waved HI? ;)
