This is a picture from the time when man first invented writing (bronze age), and light took 6000 years to travel to my camera.

Emission nebula in sagittarius: Hydrogen atoms excited by UV radiation from newborn stars. Also called Lobster Nebula (mwehehehehe)

Bonus: hot-pixel graph of EQ6 periodic error and M18, open cluster with multicoloured stars.

You have it all here; Yammy, Neat and Inspiring.

Its really funny how light plays it all in universe. Don't go far, lets talk of our own sun. Did you know it takes 2 million years (No typo) for light made in the core of our sun to reach to surface, then 8 minutes later you can capture it on your cameras sensor not even thinking how long it took from the birth of those photons to reach your camera's sensors for that final excitation before dying for good!

Samsen I knew about the 8 minutes, but not the 2mio to get to the surface. So you have actual photons *in* the sun??

According to the (little) physics I know, photons are the result of energy input, and they race away the moment they're created. What keeps them in for so long? I mean, I've only heard of black holes that have enough gravity to absorb them...

Definetly yummy :)
