It depends on the price and condition, of course. But it has everything a photographer needs. Slap on a 40mm or 85mm on it and you're ready for some mind-blowing, razor-sharp images.

Do you have any equipment right now?

Yes, they still take great pictures.

Just be aware that the AF isn't too great away from centre point in poor light and your ISO maxes out at 3200 etc., as technology has moved on. There is a very nice quality to the images though, which comes from lovely big photosites (with only 12mp on FF sensor) and there are some times I still prefer to use my old mkI instead of my mkIII, for that indefinable quality you see.

I won't part with my old mkI, and if it ever breaks I will fix it or buy another, regardless of the fact that I have the "latest and greatest" 5D as well.

I still win competitions with shots from my old classic, against shots from the best current cameras from Canon and Nikon etc., so if you don't get great results you can't blame the camera.

Feel bad for letting my go. Very nice camera for the price. I care less for the latest tech things. AF on canon FF is same old same old unless one splurges on 5dmk3.

I bought a 5Dc last year. After almost a year of playing with it I am ready to sell. Don't get me wrong; I like it. I just can't afford the 16-35II and 24-70 II to go with it. I am now, because of the money involved, a dedicated APSc shooter. The nice thing is that I bought used. The excursion will end up costing me very little. I say buy it!

Dedicated APS-c shooter. Gripped 60D, 60 2.8, 10-22, 15-85, Σ70-200 OS and a big white something or other! Plus a 5D w/28-75.

Yes, a classic 5d is still a good camera. Almost imperceptible noise up to ISO 640. Perfect DOF control. Newer cameras are obviously better, but progress only makes older units seem bad. It doesn't make them actually bad.

I kept mine as a very usable 2nd body following the purchase of a 1d III, but now I've added a 1d X, I'll be moving my 5d on.

I have two of them both purchase for $400.
Excellent results when paired with a great lens.
Rear LCD sucks so I wouldn't rely on it to verify your focus.
I have used it extensively when I was in New York City. I have dropped it multiple times and she is still shooting perfectly.
I have taken both bodies apart to clean the internals. Fixed one of them since the focus points LEDs were off by a few centimeters. Saved myself a few hundreds by doing it.

I would say it is an excellent camera to learn on.

3FPS can be an issue in action sports, but just try not to "spray and pray" as you can miss the perfect shot. And the crop cameras give you better length for your lens. If you are a sports 'tog, then perhaps 5d not for you. Landscape and indoor it's great for though.

I can't advise whether to go for that specific camera as I don't know its condition or price. But 20k shots should be less than half of its lifespan.

I agree with the above. You better forget about the 5Dc if you're in for sports. When the 5Dc came out, nobody was talking about it and sports in the same sentence; it was all weddings and landscape stuff. Imagine if the 5Dc came out yesterday: it would get 10x more bashing than the 6D re. sports, because it's worse.

I've used my 5Dc for sports. It ain't the best tool for the job, but it is quite capable in the right hands. Shooting action with a 5D requires you to know the game and anticipate the action. No way you're going to 'spray & pray' with this body.

BTW, those 'right hands' are not mine. I prefer my 60D for action. It has way better Servo AF and 5.3 fps.

As with other Canon DSLR's, the only limits are those imposed by the photographer.
