Hi again,

I am thinking to sell some bodies i have due to not much use, and to upgrade to new body if possible, so that i am asking here, how can you determine or evaluate the price of your used body for sale?

Someone asked me to buy my 1D MarkIII, i am not sure if the price i gave him is reasonable or it is a bit high or it is lower slightly than what it should be, the camera is in Excellent condition and i have the box and almost all the stuff or accessories i think it came with, so how much do you think it may cost for sale?

Also i am thinking to sell some other bodies such as 1Ds MarkII, 1D MarkIIn, and 5D classic.

You could always do a search in the for sale section here. That's a good starter. Doesn't tell you the actual selling price agreed upon but shows you the asking price.

And maybe bhphoto or another retailer out your way that sells used.

Good luck selling them.

Ok, i checked out some sites including B&H and ebay, got different prices, some with lower than what i put and some higher than what i put, but sounds all with everything included they stated higher than i put, if only body then it is lower than what i asked, so i am not sure if i should increase my price if he will accept to have the box and everything included.

do a search in the selling section of this forum and you should be able to see a pattern of pricing for each camera body. You can also search completed auctions on eBay too and find out what things have sold for recently.

Am I to understand you've already reached an agreement on price, and since you feel that the same package might have sold for a bit more on ebay or elsewhere you now want to ask the buyer to pay more? If that's the case then it's a bad move, and would severely hurt your reputation as a reliable seller. If I've misunderstood then I apologize.

I agree with "groundloop" if you already agreed on a price to sell it would be a bad move to try and raise it at this stage. What to ask for an item is a hard choice to make, if your asking price is low or high. It really is what a buyer is willing to pay who sets the price of any item in the end.

Do not forget about eBay fees and remember that most of sites/ places selling used equipment sell for much much more then buy.

Well, i checked out the sale section here, and found that the price i gave is fine and reasonable, higher than most here, so i am not fine, but it all depends on that person, if he will not buy or forgot to buy then i can ask little more to another person if i can find, i will accept the price i gave to that person, and i will check out and see what i can price my other bodies before i give anything quickly.

This is how I evaluate market value:

*Go to eBay
*Search for (1d markiii body, or whatever you want)
*Use the following for search refinement: Used, completed listings, end date:most recent first.

Write down 10 prices that has items matching what you're looking for and in the condition you're buying or selling it at. Divide by 10 to find average. Boom.....current market value.
