Hi All,
I snapped these while out for a family party for my bro in law's 40th birthday. From a technical point of view these probably aren't great but I thought they captured my niece very nicely.

Might be my monitor but they appear pretty soft and a TINY bit out of focus. 1 and 3 have pretty distracting backgrounds but I would LOVE to see #2 in color with a boost in contrast! That one looks pretty good! :)

@Xarik, they are a bit soft but they aren't posed so it was grab the camera a get a photo that doesn't have an exaggerated toothy grin lol. Anyway, I've put no2 back into colour and had a play about with it

I like that a lot more! It's still soft, but overall a great image that I would be happy with :). I know those moments, it's really hard when you only have a 50mm on your camera and have to stand 10 feet back to get a face shot lol

@xarik, thanks for the input, I really love B&W but I agree with you here that the colour looks better. It's all about learning from others, that's why I signed up to the forum.

On a side note, I'm think of getting this printed and framed as a gift for my parents, do you think a matt print would help look best considering the focus is a tiny bit off?

Cheers

You know I was going to mention that it was a very print worthy image in my eyes! :). I'm not sure if it's help because I don't print my images, but a smaller image should be a bit clearer. If you send me the raw file I can try and put it through photoshop and get some more contrast so it appears clearer (Idk if you have photoshop or not) but it might help. Otherwise how it is should be fine! :)
