Good morning, heading up to Bar Harbor for the weekend and I want to get a shot of sunrise at Otter Cliffs. Tried before w/o a tripod and was not happy with the results. So this year I picked one up. I'm also looking to get off 'auto' everything.
I'll have my XS-I, an 18-55 kit and a macro 55mm. also have a 3stop ND filter to play with.
I'm looking for some 'baseline' settings, I thought AV, iso100, f/11 to start. Any other thoughts are welcome. If I get a decent shot I'll post. Thanks.

Bracket your photos, take a minimum of three shots from each setup / location.
I am hoping the ND filter is graduated to allow you to balance the exposure between the sky and foreground .
Try shooting before sunrise, longer exposures. Look for prominent foreground subject creating leading lines that draw your eye into the photo.
ISO 100 − 200 are good, f stop will if you want f11 ( good DOF ) just use your shutter speed to control your exposure.
If you have some moon light shoot at night in bulb mode also, same location as day time and compare you will find two completely different photos and moods.
I hope this helps, most of all have fun with it!
