Hi All,

I thought I'd share a few pictures from the September round of the Irish Motorcycle Championship at Bishopscourt in Downpatrick N'Ireland.

I'm still a complete amateur so please be gentle on the criticism

Hello,

Cool start and welcome to the problems of photographing club motorsport - The backgrounds.

There always seems to be a car, burger wagon, plain tyre barrier or fence that spoils a shot. One option is to get in tighter, but that depends on what lens you have and how much you can crop.

The other option is to try all sorts of different angles and views to see if you can loose the background.

Looking at shots 2 4 & 6 you may want to try moving to your right until you are looking straight between the entry and exit of the S. Go higher with the shot so that the entry is in the top right corner of the frame and the exit the bottom left. Catch the rider between the two corners.

As most of the riders seem to be hanging off the bike, there will be a moment when they transfer left to right, so hopefully they will be head up - moving and facing towards the camera.

As it is a head on shot, the shutter speed isn't that important, so shorten the aperture, up the shutter speed and hopefully what is left of any background will blur out.

You will now spend years cursing and wondering why .... :-)

Thanks for the input Aspock and Picturesports, I'm heading back down this weekend for the sunflower trophy. I'll take your advice onboard and see what I come up with
