What a heartbreaking defeat. The Badgers fell to the 22nd ranked Cornhuskers with 2 seconds left in double overtime.
Critiques welcome.

Nice shots, shame the light wasn't a bit better to help the shutter speed so the balls were not blurry in a few; good job.

Thanks for the comments, guys.

mrrikki, the lighting actually was pretty decent if my second body was not a 7D. However, I actually don't mind the ball being a little bit blurred as it shows it is in motion.

Settings used for each camera (about)
1D Mark IV + 300mm 2.8 IS I
1/1000, 2.8, ISO 8000

7D + 70-200 2.8 IS II
1/640, 2.8, ISO 6400

Some days the 7D cooperates with me, this game being one of them. Some days she doesn't. Looking forward to the day that I can afford a different 2nd body. I am debating between another 1D Mark IV, 5D Mark III, or possibly the 7D Mark II depending on what Canon brings to the table with it.

Steve

I am impressed by how you've removed the noise at ISO 6400. I wish I had that know-how.

Start with sharp glass that has been MFA to your camera bodies. This helps to keep a sharp image even with noise reduction applied in post. Next, make sure you really nail the exposure as close as possible in the camera, expose a tiny bit to the right if possible. Then in Lightroom (I'm still on 4), don't be afraid of the NR sliders. For the 7D shots in this set, I generally had the main slider between 25-35.

This is how I do it, others may have better suggestions. I'm still always learning. I hope this is helpful for you.

Steve

I know how you feel, my 7D ISO noise has killed me at times, where you have the patients to do some great PP work I don't as much sadly!

Also personal preference on the ball, I don't like it too blurry personally, but even so some of my photos end up the same, but I am more of a rugby man, I only shoot football when a paper asks me.

Thank you. I use Neat Image for noise reduction.
