Stamp mill

This was shot at Bodie, Ca. a couple of years ago and I've just now processed it for the first time. I may go black and white rather than color.

I like it. Maybe try cropping out some of the foreground (crop off the bottom right corner to just past the house on the right if you want to keep the aspect ratio)

I'd crop 1/2 off the bottom only & go for panorama.

I agree with the bottom crop. I'd cut it right about where that faint trail starts to show up in the middle/right of the frame.

Thanks for the input. Would you leave the same amount of sky and crop the foreground as a panorama or put some of the sky back in to keep the current aspect ratio?

I wish I had Ps here at work, I'd show you what I mean. lol.

I'd try chopping off the bottom right below that dark colored bush middle-left and then take a thin slice off the sky to give it a panoramic look. I like most of the open sky in there though, it gives a nice sense of just how much land you're looking at.

Here's a crop removing more of the foreground but retaining the same aspect ratio (16:9)

I like the last one you did here Doc. I vote for keeping it in color. Those are some fantastic colors.

That is such a cool location. I like the new crop of the buildings and also the processing. I'd process the one with the truck the same. Very cool though.

Personally I think this subject wants to fill the frame so a panoramic format is really appropriate for my eye. Bodie is a fun spot and I shot this mill with a 4x5 years ago.

I like it, thanks. I'll have to see how resolution I have left on the full sized image after that much of a crop.

Jetcode's crop is what I was suggesting. Did you get any close-ups or interiors of the buildings?

Sure, I got a lot of interior shots. I have a lens hood that is made of rubber so that I can place that against a window to block reflections from outside light.

Here's one of the general store looking through the front window early in the morning.

Neat place. I like your crop of the mill. Going pano may work but better but if that's too much cropping yours works too. Good sky, I'd stay with color.

I don't remember the store being that well stocked but that's a very nice shot too.

Nice work in a fascinating place.
