I had to make a decision today and so I went the RRS way. I have to admit that I like the equity of Markins a bit more. RRS come across as a show off in Europe and so I really wanted to avoid it. But I did not want to get Markins head and RRS plates, etc. I prefer to have all from one Brand and so I understood that the overall set up and also the Pano offering is better on RRS side.

But this is all not a big deal...just a head....you still need to know how to photograph, still need to be passionate about traveling and lucky with the light.

Then I have to ask what brand of camera and tripod you have ;)

I've had a lot of ballheads, wanted that that didn't dip after framing the shot. I'd buy them, try it and if it moved after framing the shot it would go on Ebay. This included two Markins, I think the numbers were Q10 and Q20, they both landed on Ebay. The only head that didn't end on Ebay is my RRS BH-55, I'm still using it. It has the lever clamp.

Had all of those and love them all. I love my Arca Swiss Z1 hands down. :)

They all are Arca compatible. Even if you mix & match, it really isn't a big deal. :)

Markins Q20 with RRS L bracket.

Its not a big deal, no. And the BH-40 is more than enough for anyone IMO. Unless you want to put an 800/5.6 on it.

Mine has never sagged or drooped with my 5DIII and 70-200, and I like the knobs (though I do wish the main knob was a bit smaller so it wouldn't hit the spider on my Feisol 3442).
