Yes, the article is a spoof, but in response to the quote above: Nikon is also ahead of Canon in terms of sensor lubrication. The Nikon D7000 and the D600 had a revolutionary system by which oils in the shutter and mirror mechanism would splatter on the sensor, giving photos an old-timey dusty appearance. The remarkable breakthrough was in support of the retro/instagram type of photography popular these days.

For photographers who also want the oil-free sensor, Nikon made a D600 part II.
