I own a 650D and a 6D. Selling all my APS-C gear would net me about $1,250 which I could put towards a sweet lens* to mount on the 6D. What do you think? Should I get out of APS-C?

* The short-list is:

  • 24L
  • Sigma 35 or Canon 35 IS
  • 135L
  • 70-200 f2.8 LISII

Honestly we cant answer that for you. If I were in your shoes I would have no problem going that route, but perhaps you shoot things where the crop body would provide some benefit.

The reasons for having the 650D are:
* My 6D was in one country while I needed a camera in another, so I bought a 650D to plug the gap.
* Then I bought the Sigma 18-35 which turned out to be fantastic.

Do you need two cameras? If not, then sell the 650.

There is nothing wrong with APS-C. It's not a tumor to be eradicated.

Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here (external link). Cursing at your worse-than-a-map reflector? Check out this vid! (external link)

I know, but the output from the 6D is just so gorgeous.

You've got a normal lens already so the 35L or Sigma 35 won't add much but a bit more dof control. You've already got the 100L which can be a portrait lens in addition to the macro.

I'd recommend you get a UWA or a zoom to plug in the holes. The Samyang/Rokinon 14mm is stellar. You might want to get a 24-105 or 24-70. Look into the 70-200 f/4 IS also. The 2.8 IS II is a pretty hefty lens.

No reason for to own a camera that is going to collect dust. Sell it before it drops in price again.

Nope, the short-list is the short-list. The Pancake will go once I get a 35mm. I sold the 16-35 cuz half of it was simply too wide, too niche. No interest in F/4 lenses or most zoom lenses at all, 70-200 LISII excepted. I used to own the 70-200 f/4 IS so I now crave its big brother. I hope you understand.

I could go through life with my 35 and 70-200 (on crop).
